Sometimes I remember to hold my camera when we're riding around town during the day, because I almost always see funny or cool things and wish I could take a picture.
This is the train station. I haven't been any closer, but Amadou said the trains go to Ouaga (and a few neighboring countries too, if I'm not mistaken). The market in front is where I bought some monster avocados.
It seems like everyone here loves playing the lottery, LONAB (LOterie NAtionale Burkinabé). There are tons of commercials telling people how playing the lottery every day also helps the country as a whole (I guess they donate some money to projects? I have no idea, I don't even know anything about the US or French lottery). I do know that it's called the PMU in France, although I have no idea what it stands for.
Who came up with the term fast food, I wonder? Because they really made a worldwide success of it.
LOL.
Some typical shops along the road.
Probably one of the few things that looks nearly the same as they do at home. Here's Shell, but there are a ton of other companies too. I don't actually know what major oil companies provide to Burkina, but it can't possibly be as many as the different names of the stations. To fill up a moto/mobylette thing is always 2000 FCFA. I don't know how it can be a flat rate, but it is. I also found out last night that you don't need a permit to drive the motos, which explains A LOT. You did need a license to drive cars and trucks, but since those aren't nearly as numerous ... Well. Yeah.
If you zoom in (within the limits of 4 megapixels, so not too far) on the sign to the left of center on the little shop, you'll see that it says "Obama 2014" across the top. It's far from the first thing I've seen rocking Obama pride, but it still amazes me/cracks me up. I wonder if he has any idea.
